Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Hate to beat a dead horse, but this run in 82 is on fire

http://www.archive.org/details/gd1982-04-18.beyerm160.unknown.andrewf.82487.sbeok.flac16

Today's "History" show. Another smoker from the Spring 82 East coast run. Seems every show Jerry was just jacked up and pouring fire into every tune. Plus the AUD's from this run are exceptional, which is always a nice plus when you can get them. On top of that check out the set list, especially the second set:

Set 1

Bertha ->
The Promised Land
Friend Of The Devil ->
C C Rider
Ramble On Rose
Me And My Uncle ->
Mexicali Blues
Althea ->
Looks Like Rain
Big Railroad Blues
Let It Grow

Set 2

Cold Rain And Snow ->
Samson And Delilah
Ship Of Fools
Playing In The Band ->
Eyes Of The World ->
Drums ->
Space () ->
The Other One ->
Black Peter ->
SugarMagnolia ->
Playing In The Band ->
Sunshine Daydream

Encore
Don't Ease Me In

Makes me drool just looking at it. Looks like my morning is spoken for.

And don't think we get a break tommorrow which as mentioned before is the infamous "Raven Space" Baltimore monster. They just didn't let up during this run. Makes me wish I had gotten on the bus just a couple of years earlier.

Need to also throw in a mention of Brent during this run. He has abandoned the Casio Cheese-O-Matic keyboard from his first two years and found a more classic sounding set-up which he uses to his full advantage in the shows from this run. From show to show during this week, he steps up his playing and really adds that missing element which seems to encourage Jerry to produce some gorgeous work. Say what you want to about Brent's vocals, his keyboard work could be exceptional and it was very apparent that Jerry truly loved playing with him.

I rather beat a mule to death, then skin it, made a drum, sell it to Mickey, and give the jaw bone to Joe Craven.

Hey now SDH, looks like you found something to take up my afternoon while I'm home sitting on the couch.
Got to take care of somethings first.
Nice looking 2nd set indeed.
Although I do feel sorry for that horse.......
Beat on brother :)

"Beat on brother"

Thanks, lets just give them a loaded gun. Looks like I'm in for a rough morning.

Hey, Wharf, hope you are recovering well and able to enjoy a day of peace. Oh, sorry about last night. Looks like both our bats are certainly coming alive.

Sorry--minor hijack (since there is an important question): just wondering if you have been able to log onto "the other place" in the past few days? Someone posted something about it being down a few days ago here...know anything more? Did we LMA types "break it?"

I guess I was inspired by your repeated request to your latest bovine companion "Hey, any chance of a wrap-around during this?"

If you are not familiar with the term, please don't ask me for an explanation, I just might have to answer.

Ah, well spoken. Though I don't know if I'd be too quick to offer "expert advice" on the topic.

But if it's a cow what are you 'reaching around' for? I'm udderly baffled by this but I just know you'll go on milking it...

Aaaaah, tis the cow "reaching around". But you've got to be careful, those hooves can do damage.

Riggghhhtttt.... are you sure about this, SDH? I mean, what does the cow get from it besides a little bovine bonhomie?

Nope, looks like they are having some server issues, or something of the like. I'm afraid it might cause some of those kind folks to venture over here and be shocked at our consistent ability to display behavior akin to that of a 5 year old. Or is that giving us too much credit? Well, just a little skin-thickening and this place can be truly informative as well as entertaining.

Sometimes informative and entertaining all at the same time - I know of nowhere else that can offer sadism, necrophilia and bestiality alongside heartfelt pointers to some of the most exhilarating music ever made. There's just no place like it.
